I came into my drum obsession at the age of ten when I first heard the Doors “Light My Fire”. I was mesmerized by the sounds of percussion. As a kid, I wondered how someone came up with the beat and fills. As the years progressed, the names that impressed me were drummers such as Tommie Lee, Neil Peart and one of the greatest of all time, Buddy Rich.

As the drumming itch became more of a want to bang on things, I talked my Dad into buying me my first set at thirteen years old. Yes, the old blue sparkle, no name drum set served its purpose well. Instead of dreaming about percussion and drumming on anything that moved in the neighborhood such as rocks, concrete walls, beds and the unsuspecting postal employees, I had something very special that made the noises I heard in my head come out of the end of my hands and feet.

My first band formed in high school. A couple of guys from school wanted to aim for fortune and fame thus my first band was born. As I continued playing in college the usual things that wreaked havoc with bands did most of them in. We forgot that music was supposed to be about fun so in frustration I gave up playing for what I thought would be forever.

Jump ahead to 1999, I heard a Metallica album on VH-1 called Garage, Inc. Although I saw just about every band in the late seventies and early eighties, I had never heard of or saw Metallica. After buying the CD, my thoughts were I can do this, and why did I ever stop drumming? I kept practicing and a few years later, the Internet happened.

I placed an ad on a few musicians websites in 2000.The ads were immediately answered and I formed several bands such as Fraxure, Loliger and my last band Kings Crossing. Kings Crossing played all over Houston, Katy, Clear Lake and many other areas however the band broke up in 2005 and so did my ambition for being a drummer. Fortunately during the forming of Loliger I met Guy when he became our vocalist and continued on with me in Kings Crossing. A hiatus ensued until Guy came calling again. He was forming another band and coaxed me out of semi retirement with a promise that there would be no soap operas in the new band. Nine1Nine was formed to perform and record original music. Along the way we discovered that we liked playing together so much that we would also add cover music to the mix. The current line up is a kick ass group of fun loving, beer drinking and lets tear off the roof type dudes and dudettes that just want to play some great music. One will find a mixture of eighties to current sounds as there are many influences that have helped us all to give Nine1Nine a great sound. The music scene has not heard of us yet, but they will…..
